Personal 

I think my #1 problem was that my initial drawing wasn't that strong. The shapes are kind of awkward in contrast to the background and there is something off with the snow globe. On the snow globe the colors look chunky and show no transition between one color to another. I also think that I could have used layering more effectively and mix the colors more fluidly together. The colors pop well but could be toned down a little because its to the point where the background becomes distracting. I do like the blues in the background. The snowmen are messy but I do like some of the detail that I put into the scarves and hats. Overall this isn't my best piece. 

Senior Art Banner

This piece of artwork instantly grabbed me. There was something so simple about this piece yet so clever. I love how it is a play on words but it turns it into something beautiful. I love the way that the artist almost used like a blotching technique to make the color shine through. Instead of just blending in colors or slowly fading them us the artist piles them on which I really like. I also think that the proportions of the baby and the hand are really interesting because the baby looks small but at the same time it is the focus of the painting. It is a very beautiful piece that kind of reminds me of Micah.

Why am I taking this course?
I am taking this course because I have always loved art. Art has been a must in my class electives for because because I think it is another way to express feelings. I had a grandfather who was an artist during WWII so I have also grown up with a lot of exposure to art.

Three goals for the year:
1. To improve the accuracy with drawing
2. To have a lighter touch when shading or adding dimension
3. To be able to comfortably use different techniques

Two personal goals:
1. Read more
2. Have more detailed homework

Definition of Art
Art is the was of expressing feelings without having to put it to words. It is the fluid of emotion that set in a picture using your imagination. Art is the never ending universe of creativity.

Admired Artist
Honestly one of my favorite artworks completed from this school was from Mr. K. It was an eye but inside the eye it had a picture of a old house and I thought that this piece was very interesting and creative.

Future
If I was to have a future in art, I think that I would want to do something with sculptural work or something where you are making it in your hands. I was almost going to take ceramics instead of this class because I enjoy doing more of that type of art but I thought that this course was going to benefit me more in the end and also I can take 3D art next year!

What do I hope to contribute this year?
I hope that I make artwork that SAS would be proud of.

• I was really surprised how much sugar is in milk. It made me thankful that I don't drink milk anyway.
• I didn't know the triangle that he talked about, home, school, and main st. It made me think about what food choices I make out of my home.
• This generation of parents are taking away 10 years of their child's life from what they are eating.
